Affiliate disclosure

TrueCost is funded by affiliate commissions. When you click a link marked “affiliate link” and buy hosting, the host may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way; sometimes affiliate links carry a discount the host doesn’t offer elsewhere.

Every outbound link to a host is marked. We log that a click happened and which page it came from, so we can tell which comparisons people find useful. We store addresses and browsers only as salted hashes, never in a form that identifies you.

Commissions differ between hosts, sometimes by a lot. That is why the site is built the way it is: every table is ordered by three-year true cost, computed by one published formula, and nothing we are paid can move a row. There are no sponsored placements; if that ever changes they will be labelled wherever they appear and kept out of the rankings. The methodology page describes the calculation in full.

Prices are checked against each host’s own pages on the dates shown beside them. Hosts change prices without notice, so the number at checkout is the one that counts; if you find a difference, we would like to know.
